MORE ABOUT THE GUITAR
Giuliani composed duets for two guitars throughout his life,
all of which are presented here in Volumes 19 to 24, in reprints
of the first editions. Perhaps the most celebrated of the duets
today are the splendid arrangements of operatic overtures by
Rossini and others (complete here in Volumes 23 and 24), which
were recorded by Maria Kämmerling and the late Leif
But also the other duets have marvellous music as has been
demonstrated recently by Claudio Maccari and Paolo Pugliese in
their CDs of Giuliani's complete duets for two guitars, which we can supply.
In particular on those CDs, the Gran Variazioni Concertanti op.
35 take one's breath away.
Most of the duets are for two normal guitars, but some of the
early ones are for one terz
guitar (Guitar 1) and one normal guitar (Guitar 2).
In Volumes 19 to 24 parts only are provided; no score.
